Video Signal Processing and Transmission

In the field of video signal processing and transmission, we address three main research topics. The first topic deals with intelligent video analytics, which means that we develop video analysis tools using modern machine learning techniques based on support vector machines or deep neural nets. Example applications are pedestrian detection and counting, or fault detection in industry products. The second topic addresses  current problems in video communications. Our research deals with the compression of special video data like medical images or video data for virtual reality applications. Moreover, the energy efficiency of modern video communication systems is addressed. Finally, the last topic targets advanced image sensing systems like camera arrays or multispectral camera setups.
