The LMS was once again very successful at this year’s Summer School on Video Coding and Processing (SVCP), which took place from June 28 to June 30, 2026, at the BTU in Cottbus. Marina Ritthaler won the Best Presentation Award for her talk on “Patch-based Point Cloud Upsampling using Frequency Superposition.” Teresa Stürzenhofäcker was nominated for the Best Poster Award for her research on “Antialiasing Snapshot HDR Imaging Using Non-Regular Sensing.” Furthermore, as part of the ITG Technical Committee MT2, the Joint Research Incubator Award 2026 was presented, and the research on “TreeNet: A Lightweight Model for Low Bitrate Image Compression” by Mahadev Prasad Panda, Purnachandra Rao Makkena, Srivatsa Venkatachari Prativadibhayankaram, Siegfried Fößel, and André Kaup was nominated. The publication was a collaboration between Fraunhofer IIS and the LMS. The work had already been presented at the Picture Coding Symposium (PCS) 2025, where it also won the Best Paper Award. In addition, Marc Windsheimer impressed with his knowledge of SVCP and won the “Best SVCP Buddy” Award in the quiz duel.
