We congratulate our colleague Matthias Kreuzer on qualifying for the final three of the IEEE Data Challenge on Industrial Systems’ Health Monitoring using Vibration Signal Analysis  as part of the IEEE International Conference on Prognostics and Health Management (ICPHM) . The task of the challenge is to reliably classify damages in gearboxes based on the analysis of vibration signals. Matthias’ method that is described in the paper “1-D Residual Convolutional Neural Network coupled with Data Augmentation and Regularization Techniques for the ICPHM 2023 Data Challenge” achieves a classification accuracy of 99.958% on the test dataset and is thus one of the top three out of 16 submissions from all over the world. The final ranking of the finalists will be determined by a jury at the ICPHM conference in Montreal (CA) from June 5-7, 2023. We wish Matthias the best of luck!
