EU Project EARS

The research group of Prof. Walter Kellermann will lead the EU project EARS (Embodied Audition for RobotS) as coordinator, which starts in January 2013 and will explore new algorithms for enhancing the auditive capabilities of humanoid robots. A main focus is to develop the fundamentals for a natural spoken dialogue between humans and robots in adverse acoustical environments. This ‘Specific Targeted Research Project’ (STREP), which is it terminated to 3 years and funded with 3.52 million Euros by the EU, involves partners from the UK (Imperial College, London), France (INRIA, Genoble), Israel (Ben Gurion University, Beer Sheva) and the Humboldt University Berlin.
